Things to do in Rishikesh

Experience Rishikesh,
like never before.

Adventure, spiritual, wellness, nature, and lifestyle: most trips end up weaving through all five. We’ve broken down what’s actually inside each one, so your host builds your days around what you react to, not a fixed route.

Some places you visit. Rishikesh, you absorb.

Everything you can do
in Rishikesh

Rafting mornings, temple evenings, sound baths, pottery wheels. Every moment on this page can be part of your trip, inside a package or on your own terms.

  • Two people practising yoga poses on the stony bank of the Ganga in Rishikesh, with a suspension bridge and misty hills behind.
    6:00 AM · 1 hr

Sunrise Yoga & Breathwork by the Ganga

Start the day with gentle yoga, mindful breathing, and the peaceful sounds of the river waking up beside you. All levels welcome, your teacher adapts everything.

  • A man stands waist-deep in the Ganga with head bowed and hands joined, the tiered pink riverside temple of Rishikesh behind him.
    7:30 AM · 30 min

Sacred Ganga Dip at Freedom Ghat

A five-minute walk across Laxman Jhula from Sai Ghat to Freedom Ghat for the dip: bracing, humbling, unforgettable.

  • A woman in white sits beneath a large painted mural of a meditating Shiva on a brick wall at the Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh
    9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

    Beatles Ashram

The graffiti-covered meditation domes where the Beatles wrote much of the White Album in 1968, now overgrown, covered in mural art, and one of the quietest walks in Rishikesh.

  • Waterfall cascading over rock into a shallow pool in a forested gorge near Rishikesh
    9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

    Secret Waterfall

A short hike out of town to a quiet fall most visitors never reach, with a natural pool at the base, good for a swim when the water is warm enough.

  • Group of rafters in blue helmets and life jackets wave from a white raft on the Ganga river near Rishikesh
    1:00 – 4:00 PM

    White Water Rafting

Take on the rapids of the Ganga with experienced, safety-first guides. Cold spray, big laughs, and the best kind of adrenaline.

  • Priests in yellow robes raise tiered brass fire lamps in a line during an evening Ganga aarti ceremony at a riverside ghat, watched by a large crowd.
    5:00 – 7:00 PM

    Ganga Aarti

Witness the spiritual heart of Rishikesh as the evening prayers illuminate the river. Your host knows exactly where to stand, close enough to feel the warmth of the flames.

  • A group of travellers at a railed viewpoint watching sunrise over the Himalayan foothills
    4:00 – 8:00 AM

    Kunjapuri Sunrise

A 4:00 AM drive into the hills, chai at the top, and then the first rays of sunlight illuminating the Himalayan peaks. The early alarm is worth it, every single time.

  • A person standing in the plunge pool of a tall waterfall in a rocky gorge near Rishikesh
    9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

    Neer Waterfall

Chase a waterfall with your local host, or wander the graffiti-covered domes of the Beatles Ashram. Pick one, your host handles the rest.

Bungee jumping, 83 metres

Half a day · Adventure

India's best-known jump, on a cantilever arm out over the gorge near Mohan Chatti. About three seconds of falling.

Ask about this

Bungee jumping, 219 metres

A whole day, three hours each way · Adventure

The highest in India, at Devprayag, above the point where the Ganga becomes the Ganga. Long enough on the way down to have a second thought.

Ask about this

Giant swing

Half a day · Adventure

A free fall into a long arc across the gorge, at the same site as the 83-metre jump. Most people find it more frightening than the jump and easier to say yes to.

Flying fox

Half a day · Adventure

A long, fast zip across the valley. The one for somebody in the group who wants the view without the drop.

Ask about this

Rafting, 26 km from Marine Drive

Three hours or so · Adventure

Grade III. For people who have rafted before and want the bigger water without losing the whole day.

Ask about this

Rafting, 36 km from Kaudiyala

Most of a day · Adventure

Grade IV, the hardest rapids on this river. Confident swimmers only.

The three-day rafting expedition

Three days, two nights · Adventure

Seventy kilometres of the Ganga, Devprayag down to Rishikesh, camping on the sand at Kaudiyala and Shivpuri. Twenty-odd rapids, Grade II to IV. Closed through the monsoon and needs arranging well ahead.

Waterfall treks

Half a day · Nature

The forest walk in to a fall with nobody at it, and back out. Hardest and best right after the monsoon clears.

Ask about this

SCAD jump

Half a day · Adventure

A free fall with no cord at all. You are released, and a net catches you. Nothing to pull you back, which is the entire point of it.

Ask about this

Reverse bungee

Under an hour · Adventure

The opposite of a jump. You are launched upward from the ground rather than dropped from a tower.

Ask about this

Rope bungee

Half a day · Adventure

A rope swing from the tower instead of a bungee cord. Less rebound, more arc, and a gentler way in for anybody unsure about the jump.

Ask about this

Free-style bungee

Half a day · Adventure

The same tower, except you choose how you leave the platform rather than stepping off forwards.

Ask about this

Sky cycling

Under an hour · Adventure

Pedalling a bicycle along a cable, well above the ground, with nothing under the wheels.

We do not run these ourselves. We arrange them with operators we already use, on a day built around them. If something is closed, out of season or we would not put you on it, we say so instead of taking the booking. Ask us anything. A person answers, usually within the hour.
