Adventure Activities in Rishikesh

The river does
the talking.

Rishikesh is where most people in India go for their first white water, and the town will happily sell you all of it at once. It is worth knowing what you are choosing between: nine kilometres and thirty-six kilometres are not the same afternoon, and an 83-metre jump and a 219-metre one are not the same day. Everything below is something we run or take people to, described the way we would describe it to a friend.

“In your trip” means already paid for and already planned — no second booking, no separate ticket. “On request” means we arrange it for you and tell you what it costs before you commit to anything. Nothing here is charged to you without you seeing the number first. There is more than this on the list further down, including the jumps and swings we do not have our own measurements for.

Included in your trip

Adventure in Rishikesh, item by item.

No extra booking, no separate ticket. Your host has it in hand before you land.

White Water Rafting

Take on the rapids of the Ganga with experienced, safety-first guides. Cold spray, big laughs, and the best kind of adrenaline.

Not in a package — ask and we arrange it

Everything else Rishikesh does.

None of these are inside a trip, and we are not going to pretend they are. Tell us which one and your dates, and we come back with whether it is running and what it costs — before you owe anything.

Bungee jumping, 83 metres

Half a day

India's best-known jump, on a cantilever arm out over the gorge near Mohan Chatti. About three seconds of falling.

Bungee jumping, 219 metres

A whole day — three hours each way

The highest in India, at Devprayag, above the point where the Ganga becomes the Ganga. Long enough on the way down to have a second thought.

Ask about this

Giant swing

Half a day

A free fall into a long arc across the gorge, at the same site as the 83-metre jump. Most people find it more frightening than the jump and easier to say yes to.

Flying fox

Half a day

A long, fast zip across the valley. The one for somebody in the group who wants the view without the drop.

Ask about this

Rafting, 26 km from Marine Drive

Three hours or so

Grade III. For people who have rafted before and want the bigger water without losing the whole day.

Ask about this

Rafting, 36 km from Kaudiyala

Most of a day

Grade IV, the hardest rapids on this river. Confident swimmers only.

The three-day rafting expedition

Three days, two nights

Seventy kilometres of the Ganga, Devprayag down to Rishikesh, camping on the sand at Kaudiyala and Shivpuri. Twenty-odd rapids, Grade II to IV. Closed through the monsoon and needs arranging well ahead.

SCAD jump

Half a day

A free fall with no cord at all. You are released, and a net catches you. Nothing to pull you back, which is the entire point of it.

Ask about this

Reverse bungee

Under an hour

The opposite of a jump — you are launched upward from the ground rather than dropped from a tower.

Ask about this

Rope bungee

Half a day

A rope swing from the tower instead of a bungee cord. Less rebound, more arc, and a gentler way in for anybody unsure about the jump.

Ask about this

Free-style bungee

Half a day

The same tower, except you choose how you leave the platform rather than stepping off forwards.

Ask about this

Sky cycling

Under an hour

Pedalling a bicycle along a cable, well above the ground, with nothing under the wheels.

Ask about this

We do not run these ourselves — we arrange them with operators we already use, on a day built around them. If something is closed, out of season or we would not put you on it, we say so instead of taking the booking. Ask us anything — a person answers, usually within the hour.

Worth knowing before you book

The river closes, and nobody tells you

July to mid-September is monsoon — higher water, real landslide risk on the hill roads, and rafting typically pauses. If those are your only dates we will say so before you book flights, not after you arrive. September to November is the strongest run of the year: the water is full and clean, the hills are at their greenest and the forest waterfalls run hardest.

What is checked, and who should sit it out

Your host asks how you feel about open water and whether anyone in your group needs a gentler run, then matches you to an operator whose current safety checks and river read we already trust. The bungee sites run their own age and weight limits; they are checked at the platform and they are not negotiable — confirm them before you build a day around one. Skip the jumps entirely if you have heart, blood pressure, back or neck concerns, or if you are pregnant.

No hype and no invented numbers — including the parts that talk you out of something.

Everything we sell with this in it

Trips that already include this.

Packages and retreats both. Somebody local takes you to it and handles the rest of the day around it — no separate booking, no second payment.
